Slow product upload
Slow Product Uploads: Understanding the Process and How to Improve Your Experience
At FlippedNormals, we use a service to handle our product uploads. When you upload your files, the process has two key steps:
1. Upload to the Service: Your files are first uploaded to our service, which takes care of processing and storing them.
2. Final Processing: Once your files are on the service, it takes care of making them available for customers to download.
This two-step process ensures that we have servers worldwide, providing stability and faster access to customers in different regions. However, there are a few factors that might contribute to slower uploads.
Common Factors That Can Slow Uploads
• Slow or Unstable Internet Connection: A poor connection can cause uploads to drag on. Fortunately, our system supports resumable uploads, meaning you can continue where you left off if your connection is interrupted.
• Large Zip Archives: We’ve noticed that big zip files, especially those containing entire course materials, can take longer to upload. If you’re seeing delays, try uploading the files individually or splitting the archive into smaller parts to improve upload times.
Recommended Practices for Faster Uploads
1. Upload Files Individually: If you’re dealing with large zip files, splitting them up or uploading the files one by one can help speed up the process.
2. Compress Video Files: Before uploading video content, we recommend running them through a tool like HandBrake to compress the file size. This won’t significantly impact the quality but can drastically reduce the time it takes to upload. Compressing your files also ensures a smoother experience for customers, many of whom may have slower internet speeds.
By following these tips, you’ll help ensure that your products are uploaded efficiently and ready for your customers to download without delay.
